ब्रह्मोवाच ।। इत्थं देवैः स्तुता देवी दुर्गा दुर्गार्तिनाशिनी ।। आविर्बभूव देवानां पुरतो जगदंबिका ।। १ ।।

sanskrit

Brahmā said: Thus eulogised by the Gods, the Goddess Durgā, the mother of the universe, the destroyer of impassable distress, appeared in front of them.

english translation

brahmovAca || itthaM devaiH stutA devI durgA durgArtinAzinI || AvirbabhUva devAnAM purato jagadaMbikA || 1 ||
