ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ क्षुवस्य हितकृत्येन दधीचस्याश्रमं ययौ॥ विप्ररूपमथास्थाय भगवान् भक्तवत्सलः १॥
Brahmā said: In order to do something beneficent to Kṣuva, the lord Viṣṇu who is favourably disposed to his devotees assumed the form of a brahmin and went to the hermitage of Dadhīca.
english translation
brahmovAca ॥ kSuvasya hitakRtyena dadhIcasyAzramaM yayau॥ viprarUpamathAsthAya bhagavAn bhaktavatsalaH 1॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदधीचं प्राह विप्रर्षिमभिवंद्य जगद्गुरुः॥ क्षुवकार्य्यार्थमुद्युक्तश्शैवेन्द्रं छलमाश्रितः ॥२॥
The Preceptor of the Universe Viṣṇu resorting to deception for the realisation of Kṣuva’s purpose, bowed to the brahminical sage Dadhīca, the leader of devotees of Śiva, and spoke these words.
english translation
dadhIcaM prAha viprarSimabhivaMdya jagadguruH॥ kSuvakAryyArthamudyuktazzaivendraM chalamAzritaH ॥2॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविष्णुरुवाच ॥ भो भो दधीच विप्रर्षे भवार्चनरताव्यय ॥ वरमेकं वृणे त्वत्तस्तद्भवान् दातुमर्हति ॥ ३ ॥
Viṣṇu said: O Dadhīca, O brahminical sage, engrossed in the worship of Śiva, O unchanging one, I am soliciting a boon from you, which you will please grant.
english translation
viSNuruvAca ॥ bho bho dadhIca viprarSe bhavArcanaratAvyaya ॥ varamekaM vRNe tvattastadbhavAn dAtumarhati ॥ 3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्रह्मोवाच ॥ याचितो देवदेवेन दधीचश्शैवसत्तमः ॥ क्षुवकार्यार्थिना शीघ्रं जगाद वचनं हरिम् ॥ ४ ॥
Brahmā said: Dadhīca, the most excellent of the devotees of Śiva, thus requested by the lord of Devas on behalf of Kṣuva, immediately replied thus.
english translation
brahmovAca ॥ yAcito devadevena dadhIcazzaivasattamaH ॥ kSuvakAryArthinA zIghraM jagAda vacanaM harim ॥ 4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदधीच उवाच ॥ ज्ञातं तवेप्सितं विप्र क्षुवकार्यार्थमागतः ॥ भगवान् विप्ररूपेण मायी त्वमसि वै हरिः॥५॥
Dadhīca said: O brahmin, your purpose has been understood by me. You have come here on behalf of Kṣuva. You are the lord Viṣṇu in the form of a brahmin due to your illusion.

dadhIca uvAca ॥ jJAtaM tavepsitaM vipra kSuvakAryArthamAgataH ॥ bhagavAn viprarUpeNa mAyI tvamasi vai hariH॥5॥
