अन्यान्यपि च शास्त्राणि नानावेदयुतानि च ।। ज्ञातुं नेशं संभवंति वदंत्येवं पुरातनाः ।। २६ ।।

Even other scriptures, though associated with various Vedas, are unable to comprehend this; thus declare the ancient sages.

anyAnyapi ca zAstrANi nAnAvedayutAni ca || jJAtuM nezaM saMbhavaMti vadaMtyevaM purAtanAH || 26 ||

न स्वज्ञेयो महेशानस्सर्ववेदायुतेन सः ।। भक्तेरनन्यशरणैर्नान्यथेति महाश्रुतिः ।। २७ ।।

Lord Śiva is not unknowable entirely. He can be known by devotees who have no other refuge though he is unknowable through thousands of Vedic passages without devotion. So says the great Vedic passage.

na svajJeyo mahezAnassarvavedAyutena saH || bhakterananyazaraNairnAnyatheti mahAzrutiH || 27 ||

शांत्या च परया दृष्ट्या सर्वथा निर्विकारया ।। तदनुग्रहतो नूनं ज्ञातव्यो हि सदाशिवः ।।२८।।

Sadāśiva shall be known through his own blessings by mental tranquility and supreme vision without aberrations and distractions.

english translation

zAMtyA ca parayA dRSTyA sarvathA nirvikArayA || tadanugrahato nUnaM jJAtavyo hi sadAzivaH ||28||

परं तु संवदिष्यामि कार्याकार्य विवक्षितौ ।। सिध्यंशं च सुरेशान तं शृणु त्वं हिताय वै ।। २९ ।।

But, O Lord of devas, in the matter of discussion about what shall be done and what not, I shall explain the aspect of fulfilment of our desire. Hear that in your own interest.

paraM tu saMvadiSyAmi kAryAkArya vivakSitau || sidhyaMzaM ca surezAna taM zRNu tvaM hitAya vai || 29 ||

त्वमिंद्र बालिशो भूत्वा लोकपालैः सदाद्य वै ।। आगतो दक्ष यज्ञं हि किं करिष्यसि विक्रमम् ।। 2.2.36.३० ।।

It is your childishness that prompted you to be present here in the sacrifice of Dakṣa along with the other guardians of quarters. What shall you do with the exhibition of your valour?

tvamiMdra bAlizo bhUtvA lokapAlaiH sadAdya vai || Agato dakSa yajJaM hi kiM kariSyasi vikramam || 2.2.36.30 ||
