ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ इन्द्रोऽपि प्रहसन् विष्णुमात्मवादरतं तदा ॥ वज्रपाणिस्सुरैस्सार्द्धं योद्धुकामोऽभवत्तदा ॥ १ ॥
english translation
तदेन्द्रो गजमारूढो बस्तारूढोऽनलस्तथा ॥ यमो महिषमारूढो निर्ऋतिः प्रेतमेव च ॥ २ ॥
Then Indra rode on his elephant, the fire-god rode on a goat, Yama rode on his buffalo and Nirṛti rode on a ghost.
english translation
पाशी च मकरारूढो मृगारूढो स्सदागतिः ॥ कुबेरः पुष्पकारूढस्संनद्धोभूदतंद्रितः ॥ ३ ॥
Varuṇa rode on a crocodile; the wind-god rode on a deer; Kubera sat in his chariot Puṣpaka and he was ready and alert.
english translation
तथान्ये सुरसंघाश्च यक्षचारणगुह्यकाः ॥ आरुह्य वाहनान्येव स्वानि स्वानि प्रतापिनः ॥४॥
The others in the hosts of devas, Yakṣas, Cāraṇas and Guhyakas all very powerful, rode on their own respective vehicles.

तेषामुद्योगमालोक्य दक्षश्चासृङ्मुखस्तथा ॥ तदंतिकं समागत्य सकलत्रोऽभ्यभाषत ॥ ५ ॥
Seeing their enterprise, Dakṣa with blood rushing to his face in his excitement approached them along with his wife and spoke.
