वृथा ते ब्रह्मचापल्याच्छप्तोयं दक्ष दुर्मते ॥ वृथोपहसितश्चैवादुष्टो रुद्रो महा प्रभुः ॥ २३ ॥
O Dakṣa, of wicked intentions, in vain did you curse him by your inconsiderate rashness as a brahmin. The great lord Śiva who is free from defects, has in vain been ridiculed by you.
