तत्र तस्थौ सती धाम्नि महाविषण्णमानसा ।। न बुबोध चरित्रं तत्कश्चिच्च शिवयोर्मुने ।।६१।।

sanskrit

Satī stayed in the abode, overwhelmed by grief. But O sage, no one could guess the conduct of Śiva and Śivā.

english translation

tatra tasthau satI dhAmni mahAviSaNNamAnasA || na bubodha caritraM tatkazcicca zivayormune ||61||

महान्कालो व्यतीयाय तयोरित्थं महामुने ।। स्वोपात्तदेहयोः प्रभ्वोर्लोकलीलानुसारिणोः ।। ६२ ।।

sanskrit

O sage, great time elapsed even as the lord and the Goddess followed the conventions of the world through the physical bodies taken up by themselves.

english translation

mahAnkAlo vyatIyAya tayoritthaM mahAmune || svopAttadehayoH prabhvorlokalIlAnusAriNoH || 62 ||

ध्यानं तत्याज गिरिशस्ततस्स परमार्तिहृत् ।। तज्ज्ञात्वा जगदंबा हि सती तत्राजगाम सा ।। ६३ ।।

sanskrit

Then Śiva the great enjoyer and protector stopped His meditation. On coming to know of it Satī, the mother of the universe, came there.

english translation

dhyAnaM tatyAja girizastatassa paramArtihRt || tajjJAtvA jagadaMbA hi satI tatrAjagAma sA || 63 ||

ननामाथ शिवं देवी हृदयेन विदूयता ।। आसनं दत्तवाञ्शंभुः स्वसन्मुख उदारधीः ।। ६४ ।।

sanskrit

The Goddess bowed to Him with a moaning heart. The benevolent Śiva offered her a seat in front of Himself.

english translation

nanAmAtha zivaM devI hRdayena vidUyatA || AsanaM dattavAJzaMbhuH svasanmukha udAradhIH || 64 ||

कथयामास सुप्रीत्या कथा बह्वीर्मनोरमाः ।। निश्शोका कृतवान्सद्यो लीलां कृत्वा च तादृशीम् ।।६५।।

sanskrit

He narrated several interesting tales to her. By these divine sports He tried to entertain her and make her mind free from grief.

english translation
