इति पृष्टोपि गिरिशस्सत्या हितकरः प्रभुः ।। नोद्वाहे स्वपणं तस्यै कहर्यग्रेऽकरोत्पुरा।।५६।।

Even when asked, the lord who was benevolent to Satī did not reveal the vow which he took in the presence of Viṣṇu formerly.

तदा सती शिवं ध्यात्वा स्वपतिं प्राणवल्लभम्।। सर्वं बुबोध हेतुं तं प्रियत्यागमयं मुने ।।५७।।

Then O sage, meditating on Śiva, her own beloved husband, Satī understood the matter which meant the abandonment of her own self.

tadA satI zivaM dhyAtvA svapatiM prANavallabham|| sarvaM bubodha hetuM taM priyatyAgamayaM mune ||57||

ततोऽतीव शुशोचाशु बुध्वा सा त्यागमात्मनः ।। शंभुना दक्षजा तस्मान्निश्वसंती मुहुर्मुहुः ।।५८।।

After realising the abandonment of herself by Him, the daughter of Dakṣa was grieved much and began to heave sighs frequently.

tato'tIva zuzocAzu budhvA sA tyAgamAtmanaH || zaMbhunA dakSajA tasmAnnizvasaMtI muhurmuhuH ||58||

शिवस्तस्याः समाज्ञाय गुप्तं चक्रे मनोभवम् ।। सत्ये पणं स्वकीयं हि कथा बह्वीर्वदन्प्रभुः।।५९।।

But the lord Śiva kept the fact of His vow a secret from her and narrated many a tale to her.

zivastasyAH samAjJAya guptaM cakre manobhavam || satye paNaM svakIyaM hi kathA bahvIrvadanprabhuH||59||

सत्या प्राप स कैलासं कथयन् विविधाः कथा ।। वरे स्थित्वा निजं रूपं दधौ योगी समाधिभृत् ।।2.2.25.६०।।

Thus, narrating tales to her on the way He reached Kailāsa along with her. There Śiva, the Yogin, entered a trance and meditated upon His real form.

satyA prApa sa kailAsaM kathayan vividhAH kathA || vare sthitvA nijaM rUpaM dadhau yogI samAdhibhRt ||2.2.25.60||
