शिव उवाच ॥ कुर्यां चेद्दक्षजायां हि स्नेहं पूर्वं यथा महान् ॥ नश्येन्मम पणः शुद्धो लोकलीलानुसारिणः ॥ 2-2-25-५० ॥

Śiva said: If I were to maintain my love towards Satī at the level as before, my promise will be broken—even if I follow the conventions of the world.

english translation

ziva uvAca ॥ kuryAM ceddakSajAyAM hi snehaM pUrvaM yathA mahAn ॥ nazyenmama paNaH zuddho lokalIlAnusAriNaH ॥ 2-2-25-50 ॥
