कलौ तु ज्ञानवैरागो वृद्धरूपौ निरुत्सवौ ॥ ग्राहकाभावतो देवि जातौ जर्जर तामति ॥ ३९ ॥

Knowledge (Jñāna) and Detachment (Vairāgya) have grown old and have lost their lustre in the Kali Age. They have become decayed and worn-out as the people who can grasp them are rare.

english translation

kalau tu jJAnavairAgo vRddharUpau nirutsavau ॥ grAhakAbhAvato devi jAtau jarjara tAmati ॥ 39 ॥
