ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ कदाचिदथ दक्षस्य तनया जलदागमे ॥ कैलासक्ष्माभृतः प्राह प्रस्थस्थं वृषभध्वजम् ॥१॥
Brahmā said: Once at the advent of clouds, Dakṣa’s daughter said to Śiva who was halting on the ridge of Kailāsa mountain.
english translation
सत्युवाच ॥ देव देव महादेव शंभो मत्प्राणवल्लभ ॥ शृणु मे वचनं नाथ श्रुत्वा तत्कुरु मानद ॥२॥
Satī said: O lord of devas, O Śiva my dear husband, please hear my words and do accordingly, O bestower of honour.
english translation
घनागमोयं संप्राप्तः कालः परमदुस्सहः ॥ अनेकवर्णमेघौघास्संगीतांबरदिक्चयाः ॥३॥
The most unbearable season of the advent of clouds has arrived with clusters of clouds of diverse hues, and their music reverberating in the sky and the various quarters.

विवांति वाता हृदयं हारयंतीत वेगिनः ॥ कदंबरजसा धौताः पाथोबिन्दुविकर्षणाः ॥ ४ ॥
The speedy gusts of wind scattering sprays of water mingled with nectarine drops from the Kadamba flowers captivate the heart as they blow.
english translation
घानां गर्जितैरुच्चैर्धारासारं विमुंचताम् ॥ विद्युत्पताकिनां तीव्रः क्षुब्धं स्यात्कस्य नो मनः ॥५॥
Whose mind will not be agitated by the loud and forceful rumblings of the clouds that release a heavy downpour and have the beams of lightning for their ensign?
