न भक्तिश्शंकरे पुंसां रागद्वेषरतात्मनाम् ॥ तद्विधानां हि सहसा मुक्तिर्भवति सर्वथा ॥५५॥
Neither devotion nor liberation is attained by those who are attached to desires and aversions, O Shankara. For those who possess such qualities, liberation does not come easily, but through their own deeds it happens.
