पापमूलानि दुःखानि विविधान्यपि तान्यतः ॥ शिवार्चनैकनश्यानि नान्य नश्यानि सर्वथा ॥ ४६ ॥

The different kinds of miseries arising from sins shall be destroyed only through the worship of Śiva, and not through other means.

english translation

pApamUlAni duHkhAni vividhAnyapi tAnyataH ॥ zivArcanaikanazyAni nAnya nazyAni sarvathA ॥ 46 ॥

स वैदिकस्य पुण्यात्मा स धन्यस्स बुधो मुने ॥ यस्सदा कायवाक्चित्तैश्शरणं याति शंकरम् ॥ ४७ ॥

He who always seeks refuge in Śiva, O sage, is the real follower of the Vedas, a meritorious soul and a blessed scholar. He must resort to Him by means of his body, speech and mind for ever.

sa vaidikasya puNyAtmA sa dhanyassa budho mune ॥ yassadA kAyavAkcittaizzaraNaM yAti zaMkaram ॥ 47 ॥

भवंति विविधा धर्मा येषां सद्यःफलोन्मुखाः ॥ तेषां भवति विश्वासस्त्रिपुरांतकपूजने ॥ ४८ ॥

The different sacred rites of those who have full faith in the worship of Śiva, the destroyer of Tripura become fruitful instantaneously.

bhavaMti vividhA dharmA yeSAM sadyaHphalonmukhAH ॥ teSAM bhavati vizvAsastripurAMtakapUjane ॥ 48 ॥

पातकानि विनश्यंति यावंति शिवपूजया ॥ भुवि तावंति पापानि न संत्येव महामुने ॥४९॥

O great sage, there are not so many sins in the world as the worship of Śiva is capable of destroying.

pAtakAni vinazyaMti yAvaMti zivapUjayA ॥ bhuvi tAvaMti pApAni na saMtyeva mahAmune ॥49॥

ब्रह्महत्यादिपापानां राशयोप्यमिता मुने ॥ शिवस्मृत्या विनश्यंति सत्यंसत्यं वदाम्यहम् ॥2.1.4.५०॥

Innumerable heaps of sins like that of the slaughter of a brahmin perish by remembering Śiva. Truth, I am telling you the truth.
