देवानां वा नृणां रक्षां कुरु सत्याऽनया सताम् ।। संसारसारिणां शम्भो मंगलं सर्वदा तथा ।। ।। ६ ।।

sanskrit

O Śiva, along with this Satī, protect the good people and the devas. Similarly always bestow auspicious goodness upon the people of this world.

english translation

devAnAM vA nRNAM rakSAM kuru satyA'nayA satAm || saMsArasAriNAM zambho maMgalaM sarvadA tathA || || 6 ||

य एनां साभिलाषो वै दृष्ट्वा श्रुत्वाथवा भवेत् ।। तं हन्यास्सर्वभूतेश विज्ञप्तिरिति मे प्रभो ।। ७ ।।

sanskrit

O lord of living beings, this is my humble submission. you shall kill the man, whoever it may be, who sees or hears her with lust in his mind.

english translation

ya enAM sAbhilASo vai dRSTvA zrutvAthavA bhavet || taM hanyAssarvabhUteza vijJaptiriti me prabho || 7 ||

।। ब्रह्मोवाच ।। ।। इति श्रुत्वा वचो विष्णोर्विहस्य परमेश्वरः ।। एवमस्त्विति सर्वज्ञः प्रोवाच मधुसूदनम् ।। ८ ।।

sanskrit

Brahmā said: On hearing these words of Viṣṇu, lord Śiva laughed. The omniscient lord told the slayer of Madhu, “Be it so.”

english translation

|| brahmovAca || || iti zrutvA vaco viSNorvihasya paramezvaraH || evamastviti sarvajJaH provAca madhusUdanam || 8 ||

स्वस्थानं हरिरागत्य स्थित आसीन्मुनीश्वर ।। उत्सवं कारयामास जुगोप चरितं च तत् ।।९।।

sanskrit

O great sage, after this, Viṣṇu returned to his abode. He kept the incident quite secret but asked the people to continue the festivities.

english translation

svasthAnaM harirAgatya sthita AsInmunIzvara || utsavaM kArayAmAsa jugopa caritaM ca tat ||9||

अहं देवीं समागत्य गृह्योक्तविधिनाऽखिलम् ।। अग्निकार्यं यथोद्दिष्टमकार्षं च सुविस्तरम् ।।2.2.19.१०।।

I approached the Goddess (Satī) and performed in detail all the sacrificial rites as laid down in the Gṛhyasūtras.
