द्रव्यं ददौ द्विजातिभ्यो यथाभीष्टमुदारधीः॥ अन्येभ्यश्चांधदीनेभ्यो वीरिणी च महामनाः ॥४६॥
The noble Dakṣa gave as much wealth to brahmins as they desired. The noble Vīriṇī gave similar gifts to the blind, the poor and the needy.
english translation
dravyaM dadau dvijAtibhyo yathAbhISTamudAradhIH॥ anyebhyazcAMdhadInebhyo vIriNI ca mahAmanAH ॥46॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवीरिणी तां समालिंग्य स्वसुतां प्रीतिवर्द्धिनीम् ॥ मूर्ध्न्युपाघ्राय मुदिता प्रशशंस मुहुर्मुहुः ॥४७॥
Vīriṇī embraced her daughter on the head and delightfully praised her frequently.
english translation
vIriNI tAM samAliMgya svasutAM prItivarddhinIm ॥ mUrdhnyupAghrAya muditA prazazaMsa muhurmuhuH ॥47॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ दक्षः कियत्काले व्यतीते धर्मवित्तमः ॥ चिंतयामास देयेयं स्वसुता शम्भवे कथम् ॥ ४८ ॥
After some time had elapsed, Dakṣa, the foremost of those who knew Dharma, thought of the procedure of handing over his daughter to Śiva.
english translation
atha dakSaH kiyatkAle vyatIte dharmavittamaH ॥ ciMtayAmAsa deyeyaM svasutA zambhave katham ॥ 48 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआगतोपि महादेवः प्रसन्नस्स जगाम ह ॥ पुनरेव कथं सोपि सुतार्थेऽत्रागमिष्यति ॥ ४९ ॥
The great Lord Śiva had come here himself out of his sheer delight. But he has gone back. How will he come again to woo my daughter?
english translation
Agatopi mahAdevaH prasannassa jagAma ha ॥ punareva kathaM sopi sutArthe'trAgamiSyati ॥ 49 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रास्थाप्योथ मया कश्चिच्छंभोर्निकटमंजसा ॥ नैतद्योग्यं निगृह्णीयाद्यद्येवं विफलार्दना ॥ 2-2-17-५० ॥
Can a person be sent to Śiva immediately? No, this is not proper. If he spurns the offer it will be a fruitless torment.

prAsthApyotha mayA kazcicchaMbhornikaTamaMjasA ॥ naitadyogyaM nigRhNIyAdyadyevaM viphalArdanA ॥ 2-2-17-50 ॥
