पप्रच्छाज्ञां तपोहेतोश्शंकरस्य विनीतधीः ।। मातुश्शिवाथ वैरिण्यास्सा सखी परमेश्वरी ।।१२।।

sanskrit

Satī, the great Goddess of wide intellect, sought the permission of her mother to perform the penance with Śiva as the goal, for the happiness of her mother Vīriṇī.

english translation

papracchAjJAM tapohetozzaMkarasya vinItadhIH || mAtuzzivAtha vairiNyAssA sakhI paramezvarI ||12||
