एतच्छैलोपत्यकायां चंद्रभागानदीतटे ॥ मेधातिथिर्महायज्ञं कुरुते तापसाश्रमे ॥५१॥
In the ridge of this mountain, on the banks of this river Candrabhāgā, Medhātithi is performing a great penance in his hermitage.
english translation
तत्र गत्वा स्वयं छंदं मुनिभिर्न्नोपलक्षिता ॥ मत्प्रसादाद्वह्निजाता तस्य पुत्री भविष्यसि ॥ ५२ ॥
You go there unobserved by the sages. Thanks to my favour, you will become his fire-born daughter.
english translation
यस्ते वरो वाञ्छनीयः स्वामी मनसि कश्चन ॥ तं निधाय निजस्वांते त्यज वह्नौ वपुः स्वकम् ॥ ५३ ॥
If you have chosen in your mind a desirable bridegroom as your husband, you shall think of him while you consign your body into the fire.
english translation
यदा त्वं दारुणं संध्ये तपश्चरसि पर्वते ॥ यावच्चतुर्युगं तस्य व्यतीते तु कृते युगे ॥५४॥
O Sandhyā, while you were performing severe penance—which had lasted for four yugas—in the earlier part of Tretā Yuga, after the Kṛta Yuga had elapsed.
english translation
त्रेतायाः प्रथमे भागे जाता दक्षस्य कन्यका ॥ वाक्पाश्शीलसमापन्ना यथा योग्यं विवाहिताः॥५५॥
In the first part of the Tretā Yuga, Was born a daughter of Dakṣa. Endowed with eloquence, modesty, and virtue, She was married, as appropriate, to a worthy husband.
