तां दृष्ट्वा मुनिशार्दूलस्तेपे स सुचिरं तपः ॥ बध्वासनं दृढं मौनी प्राणानायम्य शुद्धधीः ॥ ४ ॥

sanskrit

On seeing the hermitage (very convenient for penance) the leading sage performed the penance for a long time, seated firmly and steadily, keeping silent, controlling the breath and retaining the purity of the intellect.

english translation

tAM dRSTvA munizArdUlastepe sa suciraM tapaH ॥ badhvAsanaM dRDhaM maunI prANAnAyamya zuddhadhIH ॥ 4 ॥
