हते तस्मिन्दानवेशे माहिषे हि गजासुरे।। स्वस्थानं भेजिरे देवा जगत्स्वास्थ्यमवाप च ।।७१।।

sanskrit

When Gajāsura the lord of the Dānavas, and the son of Mahiṣa was killed, the gods returned to their original place and the universe attained normalcy.

english translation

hate tasmindAnaveze mAhiSe hi gajAsure|| svasthAnaM bhejire devA jagatsvAsthyamavApa ca ||71||

इत्युक्तं चरितं शंभोर्भक्तवात्सल्यसूचकम् ।। स्वर्ग्यं यशस्यमायुष्यं धनधान्यप्रवर्द्धनम् ।। ७२ ।।

sanskrit

Thus I have narrated to you the story of Śiva which shows his affection to his devotees, which is conducive to the attainment of heaven, fame and longevity and which increases wealth and food-grains.

english translation

ityuktaM caritaM zaMbhorbhaktavAtsalyasUcakam || svargyaM yazasyamAyuSyaM dhanadhAnyapravarddhanam || 72 ||

य इदं शृणुयात्प्रीत्या श्रावयेद्वा शुचिव्रतः ।। स भुक्त्वा च महासौख्यं लभेतांते परं सुखम् ।। ७३ ।।

sanskrit

He who listens to this with devotion, or narrates this observing pure rites, enjoys great happiness and attains salvation, the greatest bliss hereafter.

english translation

ya idaM zRNuyAtprItyA zrAvayedvA zucivrataH || sa bhuktvA ca mahAsaukhyaM labhetAMte paraM sukham || 73 ||
