कृत्वा परमसंग्रामं तेन पूर्वं मुनीश्वर ॥ प्रसाद्य तं महेशानं सत्त्वभावात्पुनः पुनः ॥ ६ ॥
O great sage, it was after a great fight with the gods and by propitiating lord Śiva again and again with Sāttvika devotion that he attained the leadership.
english translation
kRtvA paramasaMgrAmaM tena pUrvaM munIzvara ॥ prasAdya taM mahezAnaM sattvabhAvAtpunaH punaH ॥ 6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमाहात्म्यमद्भुतं शंभोश्शरणागतरक्षिणः ॥ सुभक्तवत्सलस्यैव नानालीलाविहारिणः ॥ ७ ॥
It is wonderful indeed, the greatness of Śiva is wonderful. Śiva protects those who seek refuge in him. He is favourably disposed to his devotees. He indulges in different kinds of sports.

mAhAtmyamadbhutaM zaMbhozzaraNAgatarakSiNaH ॥ subhaktavatsalasyaiva nAnAlIlAvihAriNaH ॥ 7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमाहात्म्यमेतद्वृषभध्वजस्य श्रुत्वा मुनिर्गंधवतीसुतो हि ॥ वचो महार्थं प्रणिपत्य भक्त्या ह्युवाच तं ब्रह्मसुतं मुनींद्रम् ॥ ८ ॥
On hearing about the greatness of the bull-bannered lord, the sage, son of Gandhavatī bowed to the great sage, son of Brahmā, with devotion and spoke these meaningful words.
english translation
mAhAtmyametadvRSabhadhvajasya zrutvA munirgaMdhavatIsuto hi ॥ vaco mahArthaM praNipatya bhaktyA hyuvAca taM brahmasutaM munIMdram ॥ 8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptव्यास उवाच ॥ को ह्यंधको वै भगवन्मुनीश कस्यान्वये वीर्यवतः पृथिव्याम् ॥ जातो महात्मा बलवान् प्रधानः किमात्मकः कस्य सुतोंऽधकश्च ॥ ९ ॥
Vyāsa said: O holy one, O lord of sages, who is this Andhaka? In which warrior family on the earth was this powerful great Andhaka born? What was his parentage? What is his importance?
english translation
vyAsa uvAca ॥ ko hyaMdhako vai bhagavanmunIza kasyAnvaye vIryavataH pRthivyAm ॥ jAto mahAtmA balavAn pradhAnaH kimAtmakaH kasya sutoM'dhakazca ॥ 9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतत्समस्तं सरहस्यमद्य ब्रवीहि मे ब्रह्मसुतप्रसादात् ॥ स्कंदान्मया वै विदितं हि सम्यक् महेशपुत्रादमितावबोधात् ॥ 2-5-42-१० ॥
O son of Brahmā, please let me know all this entirely along with its mystic secrets. You have learnt this well from Kārttikeya of immeasurable enlightenment, the son of lord Śiva.

etatsamastaM sarahasyamadya bravIhi me brahmasutaprasAdAt ॥ skaMdAnmayA vai viditaM hi samyak mahezaputrAdamitAvabodhAt ॥ 2-5-42-10 ॥
