गाणपत्यं कथं प्राप शंभोः परमतेजसः ।। सोंधको धन्य एवाति यो बभूव गणेश्वरः ।। ११ ।।

How did he obtain the leadership of the Gaṇas from Śiva of great splendour? Really that Andhaka was blessed since he became the lord of the Gaṇas.

gANapatyaM kathaM prApa zaMbhoH paramatejasaH || soMdhako dhanya evAti yo babhUva gaNezvaraH || 11 ||

।। ब्रह्मोवाच ।। व्यासस्य चैतद्वचनं निशम्य प्रोवाच स ब्रह्मसुतस्तदानीम् ।। महेश्वरोतीः परमाप्तलक्ष्मीस्संश्रोतुकामं जनकं शुकस्य ।।१२।।

Brahmā said: On hearing the words that son of Brahmā spoke to Vyāsa the father of Śuka who desired to hear about the wonderful sports of lord Śiva which give prosperity to the hearer.

सनत्कुमार उवाच ।। पुराऽऽगतो भक्तकृपाकरोऽसौ कैलासतश्शैलसुता गणाढ्यः ।। विहर्तुकामः किल काशिकां वै स्वशैलतो निर्जरचक्रवर्ती ।। १३ ।।

Sanatkumāra said: Formerly Śiva, the Emperor of the gods, kind to his devotees came to Kāśī from Kailāsa accompanied by Pārvatī, the daughter of the mountain and his Gaṇas because he was desirous of sporting there.

english translation

sanatkumAra uvAca || purA''gato bhaktakRpAkaro'sau kailAsatazzailasutA gaNADhyaH || vihartukAmaH kila kAzikAM vai svazailato nirjaracakravartI || 13 ||

स राजधानीं च विधाय तस्यां चक्रं परोतीः सुखदा जनानाम् ।। तद्रक्षकं भैरवनामवीरं कृत्वा समं शैलजयाहि बह्वीः।।१४।।

He built his capital there. He appointed the hero Bhairava as its protector. Then he performed many sports, pleasing to the people, in the company of Pārvatī the daughter of the mountain.

english translation

sa rAjadhAnIM ca vidhAya tasyAM cakraM parotIH sukhadA janAnAm || tadrakSakaM bhairavanAmavIraM kRtvA samaM zailajayAhi bahvIH||14||

स एकदा मंदरनामधेयं गतो नगे तद्वरसुप्रभावात् ।। तत्रापि मानागणवीरमुख्यैश्शिवासमेतो विजहार भूरि।।१५।।

nce he went to the mountain Mandara to see its excellent grandeur. He sported much in the company of Śiva and the various principal heroic Gaṇas.

sa ekadA maMdaranAmadheyaM gato nage tadvarasuprabhAvAt || tatrApi mAnAgaNavIramukhyaizzivAsameto vijahAra bhUri||15||
