तच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं विष्णोर्दृष्ट्वा तं च पुरः स्थितम् ॥ प्रणनाम महाभक्त्या तुष्ट्वाव च पुनः पुनः ॥ २६ ॥
On hearing his words and seeing Viṣṇu standing in front, the Danava bowed with great devotion and eulogised him again and again.
english translation
दंभ उवाच ॥ देवदेव नमस्तेऽस्तु पुंडरीकविलोचन ॥ रमानाथ त्रिलोकेश कृपा कुरु ममोपरि ॥ २७ ॥
Dambha said: O lord of gods, Obeisance be to you, O Lotuseyed one, O lord of Lakṣmī, O lord of the three worlds, please take pity on me.
english translation
स्वभक्तं तनयं देहि महाबल पराक्रमम् ॥ त्रिलोकजयिनं वीरमजेयं च दिवौकसाम् ॥ २८ ॥
Please give me a powerful and valorous son who will be your devotee, who will be invincible to the gods and who will conquer the three worlds.
english translation
सनत्कुमार उवाच ॥ इत्युक्तो दानवेन्द्रेण तं वरं प्रददौ हरिः ॥ निवर्त्य चोग्रतपसस्ततस्सोंतरधान्मुने ॥ २९ ॥
Sanatkumāra said: On being thus requested by the lord of Dānavas, Viṣṇu granted him the boon. O sage, making him desist from the penance he vanished from the place.
english translation
गते हरौ दानवेन्द्रः कृत्वा तस्यै दिशे नमः ॥ जगाम स्वगृहं सिद्धतदाः पूर्ण मनोरथः ॥ 2-5-27-३० ॥
When Viṣṇu went away, the lord of Danavas performed obeisance to that direction and returned home, his penance having been fulfilled and his desires realised.
