॥ विष्णुरुवाच ॥ सुस्वस्था भवताव्यग्रा न भयं कुरुतामराः ॥ नोपप्लवा भविष्यन्ते लयकालो न विद्यते ॥ २१ ॥
Viṣṇu said: O gods, be calm and unperturbed, do not be afraid. No deluge will take place, this is not the time of dissolution.

दानवो दंभनामा हि मद्भक्तः कुरुते तपः ॥ पुत्रार्थी शमयिष्यामि तमहं वरदानतः ॥ २२ ॥
The Asura Dambha a devotee of mine is performing a penance seeking for a son. I shall bestow a boon and quieten him.

सनत्कुमार उवाच ॥ इत्युक्तास्ते सुरास्सर्वे धैर्यमालंब्य वै मुने ॥ ययुर्ब्रह्मादयस्सुस्थास्स्वस्वधामानि सर्वशः ॥ २३ ॥
Sanatkumāra said: O sage, on being consoled thus, Brahmā and other gods became encouraged and they returned to their respective abodes.

अच्युतोऽपि वरं दातुं पुष्करं संजगाम ह ॥ तपश्चरति यत्रासौ दंभनामा हि दानवः ॥ २४ ॥
In order to grant the boon, Viṣṇu went to Puṣkara where Dambha was performing penance.
english translation
तत्र गत्वा वरं ब्रूहीत्युवाच परिसांत्वयन् ॥ गिरा सूनृतया भक्तं जपंतं स्वमनुं हरिः ॥ २५ ॥
On reaching there Viṣṇu consoled Dambha who was repeating his name and told him the pleasing words—“Mention the boon you wish to be granted."
