॥ शिव उवाच ॥ वरं ब्रूहि प्रसन्नोऽहं मय दानवसत्तम ॥ मनोऽभिलषितं यत्ते तद्दास्यामि न संशयः ॥ ११ ॥
Śiva said: O Maya, I am delighted. O excellent Asura speak out the boon you wish to have. There is no doubt. I shall grant you what you desire.
english translation
॥ सनत्कुमार उवाच ॥ श्रुत्वा शिवं वचश्शंभोस्स मयो दानवर्षभः ॥ प्रत्युवाच प्रभुं नत्वा नतस्कंधः कृतांजलिः ॥ १२ ॥
Sanatkumāra said: On hearing the auspicious words of Śiva, Maya the foremost among the Asuras spoke after bowing to the lord with stooping shoulders and palms joined in reverence.
english translation
मय उवाच ॥ देवदेव महादेव प्रसन्नो यदि मे भवान् ॥ वरयोग्योऽस्म्यहं चेद्धि स्वभक्तिं देहि शाश्वतीम्॥ १३॥
Maya said: O great lord, lord of the Gods, if you are delighted and if I deserve the grant of a boon please grant me parmanent devotion to you.
english translation
स्वभक्तेषु सदा सख्यं दीनेषु च दयां सदा॥ उपेक्षामन्यजीवेषु खलेषु परमेश्वर॥ १४॥
O supreme lord, grant me comradeship with your devotees for ever, compassion towards the distressed and indifference towards the wicked living beings.
english translation
कदापि नासुरो भावो भवेन्मम महेश्वर ॥ निर्भयः स्यां सदा नाथ मग्नस्त्वद्भजने शुभे ॥ १५ ॥
O lord Śiva, let there be no demonaic instinct in me at any time. O lord, let me be fearless for ever engrossed in your auspicious worship.
