ब्रह्मोवाच॥ इत्येवं वचनं श्रुत्वा पित्रोर्गणपति द्रुतम् ॥ उवाच नियतस्तत्र वचनं क्रोधसंयुतः॥३१॥
Brahmā said: On hearing the words of his parents, Gaṇeśa spoke immediately and furiously but with some restraint.
english translation
गणेश उवाच ॥ भो मातर्भो पितर्धर्मरूपौ प्राज्ञौ युवां मतौ ॥ धर्मतः श्रूयतां सम्यक् वचनं मम सत्तमौ॥३२॥
Gaṇeśa said: O mother, O father, you two are intelligent and embodied virtue. Hence O excellent ones, you may be pleased to hear my virtuous words.
english translation
मया तु पृथिवी क्रांता सप्तवारं पुनः पुनः ॥ एवं कथं ब्रुवाते वै पुनश्च पितराविह ॥३३॥
The earth has been circumambulated by me frequently, for seven times. Why then, my parents should say thus?

ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ तद्वचस्तु तदा श्रुत्वा लौकिकीं गतिमाश्रितौ ॥ महालीलाकरौ तत्र पितरावूचतुश्च तम् ॥ ३४ ॥
Brahmā said: On hearing his words, the sportively inclined parents, following the worldly conventions spoke to him thus :

पितरावूचतुः ॥ कदा क्रांता त्वया पुत्र पृथिवी सुमहत्तरा ॥ सप्तद्वीपा समुद्रांता महद्भिर्गहनैयुता ॥३५॥
The parents said: O son, when was the great earth circumambulated by you, the earth consisting of seven continentsextending to the oceans and consisting of vast jungles?
