नारद उवाच ॥ देवदेव प्रजानाथ ततः किमभवद्विधे ॥ वदेदानीं कृपातस्तु शिवलीलासमन्वितम् ॥१॥
Nārada said: O lord of people, O Brahmā, O lord of gods, what happened after that? Narrate it to me kindly besides the description of Śiva’s sports.
english translation
॥ ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ कृत्तिकाभिर्गृहीते वै तस्मिञ्शंभुसुते मुने ॥ कश्चित्कालो व्यतीयाय बुबुधे न हिमाद्रिजा ॥२॥
Brahmā said: O sage, after the son of Śiva had been taken over by the Krttikās some time elapsed but the daughter of Himavat had no knowledge of the same.
english translation
तस्मिन्नवसरे दुर्गा स्मेराननसरोरुहा॥ उवाच स्वामिनं शंभुं देवदेवेश्वरं प्रभुम् ॥ ३ ॥
Meanwhile Pārvatī beaming with her lotus like face told her husband Śiva, the lord of the gods.
english translation
पार्वत्युवाच ॥ देवदेव महादेव शृणु मे वचनं शुभम् ॥ पूर्वपुण्यातिभारेण त्वं मया प्राप्त ईश्वर ॥४॥
Pārvatī said: O lord of the gods, listen to my auspicious words. O lord, you have been attained by me, thanks to my previous merits.
english translation
कृपया योगिषु श्रेष्ठो विहारैस्तत्परोऽभवः ॥ रतिभंगः कृतो देवैस्तत्र मे भवता भव ॥५॥
Although you are the most excellent among the Yogins, O lord, you became desirous of dalliance. But my dalliance with you was interrupted in the middle by the gods.
