यावच्च पातकं देहे तावत्सिद्धिर्न जायते ।। गते च पातके तस्य सर्वं च सफलं भवेत् ।।2.1.12.७०।।

sanskrit

As long as there is a vestige of sin in the body, achievement need not be expected. When the sin is wiped off, all rites will bear fruit.

english translation

yAvacca pAtakaM dehe tAvatsiddhirna jAyate || gate ca pAtake tasya sarvaM ca saphalaM bhavet ||2.1.12.70||
