सर्वेश्वरो महादेवो जगाम गिरिजालयम् ॥ संस्थाप्य नोऽत्र सुप्रीत्या रानालीलाविशारदः ॥ ५६ ॥
Śiva, the lord of all, had gone into the apartment: of Pārvatī after stationing us here with love. He is an expert in indulging in divine sports.
english translation
तद्गुहाभ्यन्तरे शंभुः किं करोति महेश्वरः ॥ न जानीमो रमानाथ व्यतीयुर्बहवस्समाः ॥५७॥
O lord of Lakṣmī, many years have gone by. We do not know what Śiva, the great lord, is doing within her apartment.
english translation
॥ ब्रह्मोवाच॥ श्रुत्वेति वचनं तेषां स विष्णुस्सामरो मया ॥ विस्मितोऽति मुनिश्रेष्ठ शिवद्वारं जगाम ह ॥५८॥
Brahmā said: On hearing their words, O excellent sage, Viṣṇu, the gods and I were perplexed and went to the doorway of Śiva’s apartment.
english translation
तत्र गत्वा मया देवैस्स हरिर्देववल्लभः॥ आर्तवाण्या मुने प्रोचे तारस्वरतया तदा ॥५९॥
After going there along with me and the gods, Viṣṇu, the favourite deity of the gods, spoke in dejection but with joy in the heart.
english translation
शंभुमस्तौन्महाप्रीत्या सामरो हि मया हरिः ॥ तत्र स्थितो मुनिश्रेष्ठ सर्वलोकप्रभुं हरम् ॥2-4-1-६०॥
O excellent sage, standing there, along with me and the gods, he eulogised Śiva, the lord of all the worlds with great pleasure.
