उशीरं चन्दनं चैव पाद्ये तु परिकल्पयेत् ।। जातीकं कोलकर्पूरवटमूल तमालकम् ।।४१।।

sanskrit

One should also prepare ushira (a fragrant herb), chandanam (sandalwood), and offer them in the water used for washing the feet. Additionally, one should offer jāti (a type of flower), kolakarpūra (camphor), and the root of the tamalaka tree.

english translation

uzIraM candanaM caiva pAdye tu parikalpayet || jAtIkaM kolakarpUravaTamUla tamAlakam ||41||

चूर्णयित्वा यथान्यायं क्षिपेदाचमनीयके ।। एतत्सर्वेषु पात्रेषु दापयेच्चन्दनान्वितम् ।।४२।।

sanskrit

After grinding them properly, one should place the powder in the water for ācamanīya (ritual drinking), and then this mixture, infused with chandanam (sandalwood), should be offered in all the vessels used for worship.

पार्श्वयोर्देवदेवस्य नंदीशं तु समर्चयेत् ।। गंधैर्धूपैस्तथा दीपैर्विविधैः पूजयेच्छिवम्।।४३।।

sanskrit

Nandīśa, the divine Bull of Śiva shall be worshipped beside the lord Śiva. The latter shall be worshipped with scents, incense and different lamps.

pArzvayordevadevasya naMdIzaM tu samarcayet || gaMdhairdhUpaistathA dIpairvividhaiH pUjayecchivam||43||

लिंगशुद्धिं ततः कृत्वा मुदा युक्तो नरस्तदा ।। यथोचितं तु मंत्रौघैः प्रणवादिर्नमोंतकैः ।।४४।।

After purifying the linga (symbolic representation of the deity), the person should joyfully, with a mind full of devotion, recite the appropriate mantras, offering praises and salutations.

liMgazuddhiM tataH kRtvA mudA yukto narastadA || yathocitaM tu maMtraughaiH praNavAdirnamoMtakaiH ||44||

कल्पयेदासनं स्वस्तिपद्मादि प्रणवेन तु ।। तस्मात्पूर्वदिशं साक्षादणिमामयमक्षरम् ।। ४५ ।।

sanskrit

One should prepare a seat (for the deity) with auspicious symbols like the swastika and padma (lotus), and offer the pranava (sacred syllable ‘Om’) at the beginning. The directions should be aligned with the sacred energy, especially the north, which is considered sacred.
