हरिण उवाच ॥ धन्योहं पुष्टिमानद्य भवत्तृप्तिर्भविष्यति ॥ यस्यांगं नोपकाराय तस्य सर्वं वृथा गतम् ॥ ५६ ॥
The stag said:— I am blessed that I am well-nourished and enough to satisfy your needs. Of a person everything is useless if his body is of no avail.
english translation
hariNa uvAca ॥ dhanyohaM puSTimAnadya bhavattRptirbhaviSyati ॥ yasyAMgaM nopakArAya tasya sarvaM vRthA gatam ॥ 56 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयो वै सामर्थ्ययुक्तश्च नोपकारं करोति वै ॥ तत्सामर्थ्यं भवेद्व्यर्थं परत्र नरकं व्रजेत् ॥ ५७ ॥
If a person does not help others though he is capable of it, all his efficiency is vain. He will fall into hell after death.
english translation
yo vai sAmarthyayuktazca nopakAraM karoti vai ॥ tatsAmarthyaM bhavedvyarthaM paratra narakaM vrajet ॥ 57 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरन्तु बालकान् स्वांश्च समर्प्य जननीं शिशून् ॥ आश्वास्याप्यथ तान् सर्वानागमिष्याम्यहं पुनः ॥ ५८ ॥
But I must entrust my young ones to the care of their mother. I shall console them and return again.”
english translation
parantu bAlakAn svAMzca samarpya jananIM zizUn ॥ AzvAsyApyatha tAn sarvAnAgamiSyAmyahaM punaH ॥ 58 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइत्युक्तस्तेन स व्याधो विस्मितोतीव चेतसि ॥ मनाक् शुद्धमनानष्टपापपुंजो वचोऽब्रवीत् ॥ ५९ ॥
Thus requested the hunter was much surprised in his mind. With his heap of sins destroyed and with a purified mind he spoke these words.

ityuktastena sa vyAdho vismitotIva cetasi ॥ manAk zuddhamanAnaSTapApapuMjo vaco'bravIt ॥ 59 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptव्याध उवाच ॥ ये ये समागताश्चात्र तेते सर्वे त्वया यथा ॥ कथयित्वा गता ह्यत्र नायान्त्यद्यापि वंचकाः ॥ ६० ॥
The wolf said:- All those who have come here are as you are The cheaters have gone here after telling you and they still don't come back.
english translation
vyAdha uvAca ॥ ye ye samAgatAzcAtra tete sarve tvayA yathA ॥ kathayitvA gatA hyatra nAyAntyadyApi vaMcakAH ॥ 60 ॥
