सूत उवाच॥ तद्वचश्च तदा श्रुत्वा ऋषिपत्नी तपस्विनी॥ प्रत्युवाच वचः प्रीत्या स्वयं सुचकिता द्विजाः ॥ ६ ॥
Sūta said:— On hearing her words the saintly woman, the wife of the sage, was greatly surprised O brahmins. She replied with great pleasure.
english translation
sUta uvAca॥ tadvacazca tadA zrutvA RSipatnI tapasvinI॥ pratyuvAca vacaH prItyA svayaM sucakitA dvijAH ॥ 6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनसूयोवाच ॥ का त्वं कमलपत्राक्षि कुतो वा त्वं समागता ॥ तथ्यं ब्रूहि कृपां कृत्वा साध्वी सुप्रवदा सती॥ ७॥
Anasūyā said:— O beautiful lady with eyes like lotus-petals, whence have you come? Please tell me the truth. A chaste lady speaks good words.
english translation
anasUyovAca ॥ kA tvaM kamalapatrAkSi kuto vA tvaM samAgatA ॥ tathyaM brUhi kRpAM kRtvA sAdhvI supravadA satI॥ 7॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसूत उवाच॥ इत्युक्ते च तया तत्र मुनिपत्न्या मुनीश्वराः॥ सरिद्वरा दिव्यरूपा गंगा वाक्यमथाब्रवीत्॥ ८॥
Sūta said:— O great sages, when the wife of the sage spoke thus, the divine formed Gaṅgā, the foremost of the rivers, said.
english translation
sUta uvAca॥ ityukte ca tayA tatra munipatnyA munIzvarAH॥ saridvarA divyarUpA gaMgA vAkyamathAbravIt॥ 8॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगंगोवाच॥ स्वामिनः सेवनं दृष्ट्वा शिवस्य च परात्मनः ॥ साध्वि धर्मं च ते दृष्ट्वा स्थितास्मि तव सन्निधौ ॥ ९॥
Gaṅgā said:— O chaste lady, on seeing the service rendered by you unto your lord and to Śiva the great soul and on taking view of your holy rites, I am staying near you.
english translation
gaMgovAca॥ svAminaH sevanaM dRSTvA zivasya ca parAtmanaH ॥ sAdhvi dharmaM ca te dRSTvA sthitAsmi tava sannidhau ॥ 9॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअहं गंगा समायाता भजनात्ते शुचिस्मिते॥ वशीभूता ह्यहं जाता यदिच्छसि वृणीष्व तत् ॥ १०॥
O lady of pure smiles, I am Gaṅgā come here attracted by your worship. Choose whatever you wish.
english translation
ahaM gaMgA samAyAtA bhajanAtte zucismite॥ vazIbhUtA hyahaM jAtA yadicchasi vRNISva tat ॥ 10॥
