यामेयामे यथा पूजा कार्या भक्तवरैर्हरे ॥ शिवरात्रौ विशेषेण तामहं कथयामि ते ॥ ४६॥
O Viṣṇu, I shall tell you how the worship is to be performed by the devotee, especially in every 3-hour period at the Śivarātri night.
english translation
प्रथमे चैव यामे च स्थापितं पार्थिवं हरे ॥ पूजयेत्परया भक्त्या सूपचारैरनेकशः ॥ ४७ ॥
O Viṣṇu, during the first 3-hour period the devotee shall worship with great devotion the earthen phallic image duly installed by way of good devotional services.
english translation
पंचद्रव्यैश्च प्रथमं पूजनीयो हरस्सदा ॥ तस्य तस्य च मन्त्रेण पृथग्द्रव्यं समर्पयेत् ॥ ४८॥
Śiva shall always be worshipped with the five materials at the outset. The different articles of worship shall be separately offered with their respective mantras.
english translation
तच्च द्रव्यं समर्प्यैव जलधारां ददेत वै ॥ पश्चाच्च जलधाराभिर्द्रव्याणुत्तारयेद्बुधः ॥ ४९ ॥
After offering the materials the steady water-pouring shall be made. The intelligent devotee shall consecrate the materials of worship with the steady pouring of water.
english translation
शतमष्टोत्तरं मन्त्रं पठित्वा जलधारया ॥ पूजयेच्च शिवं तत्र निर्गुणं गुणरूपिणम् ॥ ५० ॥
He shall worship Śiva, both Nirguṇa and Saguṇa, by the steady pouring of water, reciting the 108 mantras.
