When the daughter-in-law came to the house and the son was duly married, Sudharmā evinced his enthusiasm to both the wives with an intention of delighting them equally.
घुश्माऽवदद्वधूपुत्रौ त्वदीयौ न मदीयकौ ।। वधूः पुत्रश्च तां प्रीत्या प्रसूं श्वश्रममन्यत ।। ९ ।।
Ghuśmā said:— “These are your own son and daughter-in-law not mine.” But the daughter-in-law considered Sudehā her mother-in-law and the son considered her his mother.
