एकस्मिन्दिवसे ज्येष्ठा सा सुदेहा च दुःखिनी ॥ हृदये संचिचिन्तेति दुःखशांतिः कथं भवेत् ॥ ११ ॥
One day the senior wife Sudehā, extremely distressed in her heart, thought how she could subdue her misery.
english translation
सुदेहोवाच ॥ मदीयो हृदयाग्निश्च घुश्मानेत्रजलेन वै ॥ भविष्यति ध्रुवं शांतो नान्यथा दुःखजेन हि ॥ १२ ॥
Sudehā said:— Certainly the fire in my heart can be tranquilised only through the tears of Ghuśmā caused by her misery and not otherwise.
english translation
अतोऽहं मारयाम्यद्य तत्पुत्रं प्रियवादिनम् ॥ अग्रे भावि भवेदेवं निश्चयः परमो मम ॥ १३॥
So I shall kill her son today, the son that speaks pleasing words to her. What is destined to happen shall happen. This is my final decision.
english translation
सूत उवाच ॥ कदर्य्याणां विचारश्च कृत्याकृत्ये भवेन्नहि॥ कठोरः प्रायशो विप्राः सापत्नो भाव आत्महा ॥ १४ ॥
Sūta said:— O brahmins, the inimical nature among co-wives is extremely ruthless and suicidal. The wicked and the mean do not ponder what shall be done or not done.

एकस्मिन्दिवसे ज्येष्ठा सुप्तं पुत्रं वधूयुतम् ॥ चिच्छिदे निशि चांगेषु गृहीत्वा छुरिकां च सा ॥ १५ ॥
One day during the night as the son was sleeping with his wife she took a big knife and cut off his limbs.
