गणेश उवाच ॥ प्रसन्नोऽस्मि वरं ब्रूत यूयं किं करवाण्यहम् ॥ तदीयं तद्वचः श्रुत्वा ऋषयस्तेऽबुवंस्तदा ॥ ११ ॥
Gaṇeśa said:— “I am pleased with you. Mention the boon you wish to choose. What shall I do?” On hearing his words the sages said then.
english translation
gaNeza uvAca ॥ prasanno'smi varaM brUta yUyaM kiM karavANyaham ॥ tadIyaM tadvacaH zrutvA RSayaste'buvaMstadA ॥ 11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऋषय ऊचुः ॥ त्वया यदि वरो देयो गौतमस्स्वाश्रमाद्बहिः ॥ निष्कास्यं नो ऋषिभिः परिभर्त्स्य तथा कुरु ॥ १२ ॥
The sages said:— If the boon is to be given by you, let Gautama be turned out of his hermitage after being rebuked by the sages. Please do so.
english translation
RSaya UcuH ॥ tvayA yadi varo deyo gautamassvAzramAdbahiH ॥ niSkAsyaM no RSibhiH paribhartsya tathA kuru ॥ 12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसूत उवाच ॥ स एवं प्रार्थितस्तैस्तु विहस्य वचनं पुनः ॥ प्रोवाचेभमुखः प्रीत्या बोधयंस्तान्सतां गतिः ॥ १३ ॥
Sūta said:— On being requested thus, the elephant-faced deity, the goal of the good, laughed and said gently enlightening them.
english translation
sUta uvAca ॥ sa evaM prArthitastaistu vihasya vacanaM punaH ॥ provAcebhamukhaH prItyA bodhayaMstAnsatAM gatiH ॥ 13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगणेश उवाच ॥ श्रूयतामृषयस्सर्वे युक्तं न क्रियतेऽधुना ॥ अपराधं विना तस्मै क्रुध्यतां हानिरेव च ॥ १४ ॥
Gaṇeśa said:— May this be heard, O sages. This is not proper. Those who become furious without any offence are sure to incur loss.
english translation
gaNeza uvAca ॥ zrUyatAmRSayassarve yuktaM na kriyate'dhunA ॥ aparAdhaM vinA tasmai krudhyatAM hAnireva ca ॥ 14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउपस्कृतं पुरा यैस्तु तेभ्यो दुःखं हितं न हि ॥ यदा च दीयते दुःखं तदा नाशो भवेदिह ॥ १५ ॥
According misery to the people who had rendered help before is not beneficial. If it is carried out, ruin will surely follow.
english translation
upaskRtaM purA yaistu tebhyo duHkhaM hitaM na hi ॥ yadA ca dIyate duHkhaM tadA nAzo bhavediha ॥ 15 ॥
