Shiva Purana
पंचात्मकं बिन्दुयुतं पंचमस्वरसंयुतम् ॥ तदेव बिन्दुसहितं पंचमस्वरवर्जितम् ॥ ४६ ॥
It is composed of five dots and is composed of five notes. That is the same with the dot and without the fifth vowel.
