मध्ये॒ होता॑ दुरो॒णे ब॒र्हिषो॒ राळ॒ग्निस्तो॒दस्य॒ रोद॑सी॒ यज॑ध्यै । अ॒यं स सू॒नुः सह॑स ऋ॒तावा॑ दू॒रात्सूर्यो॒ न शो॒चिषा॑ ततान ॥ मध्ये होता दुरोणे बर्हिषो राळग्निस्तोदस्य रोदसी यजध्यै । अयं स सूनुः सहस ऋतावा दूरात्सूर्यो न शोचिषा ततान ॥

Agni, the invoker of the gods, the lord of sacrifice, abides in the dwelling of the instrumental tutor of the rite, to offer sacrifice to heaven and earth; he, the son of strength, the observer of truth, has overspread (the world) from afar, like the sun, with light.

english translation

madhye॒ hotA॑ duro॒Ne ba॒rhiSo॒ rALa॒gnisto॒dasya॒ roda॑sI॒ yaja॑dhyai | a॒yaM sa sU॒nuH saha॑sa R॒tAvA॑ dU॒rAtsUryo॒ na zo॒ciSA॑ tatAna || madhye hotA duroNe barhiSo rALagnistodasya rodasI yajadhyai | ayaM sa sUnuH sahasa RtAvA dUrAtsUryo na zociSA tatAna ||

आ यस्मि॒न्त्वे स्वपा॑के यजत्र॒ यक्ष॑द्राजन्त्स॒र्वता॑तेव॒ नु द्यौः । त्रि॒ष॒धस्थ॑स्तत॒रुषो॒ न जंहो॑ ह॒व्या म॒घानि॒ मानु॑षा॒ यज॑ध्यै ॥ आ यस्मिन्त्वे स्वपाके यजत्र यक्षद्राजन्त्सर्वतातेव नु द्यौः । त्रिषधस्थस्ततरुषो न जंहो हव्या मघानि मानुषा यजध्यै ॥

Adorable and resplendent Agni, to whom, mature in wisdom, the worshipper offers oblations at every sacred rite, do you, who are present in the three (worlds), move with the speed of the traverser (of the sky, the sun), to convey the valuable oblations of men (to the gods).

A yasmi॒ntve svapA॑ke yajatra॒ yakSa॑drAjantsa॒rvatA॑teva॒ nu dyauH | tri॒Sa॒dhastha॑stata॒ruSo॒ na jaMho॑ ha॒vyA ma॒ghAni॒ mAnu॑SA॒ yaja॑dhyai || A yasmintve svapAke yajatra yakSadrAjantsarvatAteva nu dyauH | triSadhasthastataruSo na jaMho havyA maghAni mAnuSA yajadhyai ||

तेजि॑ष्ठा॒ यस्या॑र॒तिर्व॑ने॒राट् तो॒दो अध्व॒न्न वृ॑धसा॒नो अ॑द्यौत् । अ॒द्रो॒घो न द्र॑वि॒ता चे॑तति॒ त्मन्नम॑र्त्योऽव॒र्त्र ओष॑धीषु ॥ तेजिष्ठा यस्यारतिर्वनेराट् तोदो अध्वन्न वृधसानो अद्यौत् । अद्रोघो न द्रविता चेतति त्मन्नमर्त्योऽवर्त्र ओषधीषु ॥

He, whose pure and spreading flame blazes in the forest, shines with increasing intensity, like the sun on his (celestial) path; rushing like the innoxious (wind) among the plural nts, immortal, unimpeded, he lights up (all things) by his own (lustre).

सास्माके॑भिरे॒तरी॒ न शू॒षैर॒ग्निः ष्ट॑वे॒ दम॒ आ जा॒तवे॑दाः । द्र्व॑न्नो व॒न्वन्क्रत्वा॒ नार्वो॒स्रः पि॒तेव॑ जार॒यायि॑ य॒ज्ञैः ॥ सास्माकेभिरेतरी न शूषैरग्निः ष्टवे दम आ जातवेदाः । द्र्वन्नो वन्वन्क्रत्वा नार्वोस्रः पितेव जारयायि यज्ञैः ॥

Agni, who knows all that exists, is propitiated in our dwelling by our praises, like those gratifying (commendations which proceed) from one soliciting (a favour); feeder upon trees, consumer of forests, impetuous in act as the bull, the (progenitor of calves), he is glorified by the celebration of sacrifices.

अध॑ स्मास्य पनयन्ति॒ भासो॒ वृथा॒ यत्तक्ष॑दनु॒याति॑ पृ॒थ्वीम् । स॒द्यो यः स्य॒न्द्रो विषि॑तो॒ धवी॑यानृ॒णो न ता॒युरति॒ धन्वा॑ राट् ॥ अध स्मास्य पनयन्ति भासो वृथा यत्तक्षदनुयाति पृथ्वीम् । सद्यो यः स्यन्द्रो विषितो धवीयानृणो न तायुरति धन्वा राट् ॥

They glorify his flames in this world; when, easily thinning the woods, they spread over the earth; he, who glides along unarrested, and rapid in movement as a fast flying thief, shines over the desert.

adha॑ smAsya panayanti॒ bhAso॒ vRthA॒ yattakSa॑danu॒yAti॑ pR॒thvIm | sa॒dyo yaH sya॒ndro viSi॑to॒ dhavI॑yAnR॒No na tA॒yurati॒ dhanvA॑ rAT || adha smAsya panayanti bhAso vRthA yattakSadanuyAti pRthvIm | sadyo yaH syandro viSito dhavIyAnRNo na tAyurati dhanvA rAT ||
