नि होता॑ होतृ॒षद॑ने॒ विदा॑नस्त्वे॒षो दी॑दि॒वाँ अ॑सदत्सु॒दक्ष॑: । अद॑ब्धव्रतप्रमति॒र्वसि॑ष्ठः सहस्रम्भ॒रः शुचि॑जिह्वो अ॒ग्निः ॥ नि होता होतृषदने विदानस्त्वेषो दीदिवाँ असदत्सुदक्षः । अदब्धव्रतप्रमतिर्वसिष्ठः सहस्रम्भरः शुचिजिह्वो अग्निः ॥

sanskrit

May Agni, the invoker (of the gods), the intelligent, the resplendent, the radiant, the very powerful; he who knows (how to maintain) his rites undisturbed; who is steady in (his own) plural ce, and is the cherisher of thousands, sit in the station of the invoking priest.

english translation

त्वं दू॒तस्त्वमु॑ नः पर॒स्पास्त्वं वस्य॒ आ वृ॑षभ प्रणे॒ता । अग्ने॑ तो॒कस्य॑ न॒स्तने॑ त॒नूना॒मप्र॑युच्छ॒न्दीद्य॑द्बोधि गो॒पाः ॥ त्वं दूतस्त्वमु नः परस्पास्त्वं वस्य आ वृषभ प्रणेता । अग्ने तोकस्य नस्तने तनूनामप्रयुच्छन्दीद्यद्बोधि गोपाः ॥

Showerer (of benefits), Agni, be you our messenger (to the gods); our preserver from evil; the conveyer to us of wealth; the protector of our sons and grandsons, and of our person ns; understand (our prayer), ever heedful and resplendent.

english translation

tvaM dU॒tastvamu॑ naH para॒spAstvaM vasya॒ A vR॑Sabha praNe॒tA | agne॑ to॒kasya॑ na॒stane॑ ta॒nUnA॒mapra॑yuccha॒ndIdya॑dbodhi go॒pAH || tvaM dUtastvamu naH paraspAstvaM vasya A vRSabha praNetA | agne tokasya nastane tanUnAmaprayucchandIdyadbodhi gopAH ||

वि॒धेम॑ ते पर॒मे जन्म॑न्नग्ने वि॒धेम॒ स्तोमै॒रव॑रे स॒धस्थे॑ । यस्मा॒द्योने॑रु॒दारि॑था॒ यजे॒ तं प्र त्वे ह॒वींषि॑ जुहुरे॒ समि॑द्धे ॥ विधेम ते परमे जन्मन्नग्ने विधेम स्तोमैरवरे सधस्थे । यस्माद्योनेरुदारिथा यजे तं प्र त्वे हवींषि जुहुरे समिद्धे ॥

We adore you, Agni, in your loftiest birth-(plural ce), and with hymns in thine inferior station; I worship that seat whence you have issued; the priests have offered you, when kindled oblations.

english translation

vi॒dhema॑ te para॒me janma॑nnagne vi॒dhema॒ stomai॒rava॑re sa॒dhasthe॑ | yasmA॒dyone॑ru॒dAri॑thA॒ yaje॒ taM pra tve ha॒vIMSi॑ juhure॒ sami॑ddhe || vidhema te parame janmannagne vidhema stomairavare sadhasthe | yasmAdyonerudArithA yaje taM pra tve havIMSi juhure samiddhe ||

अग्ने॒ यज॑स्व ह॒विषा॒ यजी॑याञ्छ्रु॒ष्टी दे॒ष्णम॒भि गृ॑णीहि॒ राध॑: । त्वं ह्यसि॑ रयि॒पती॑ रयी॒णां त्वं शु॒क्रस्य॒ वच॑सो म॒नोता॑ ॥ अग्ने यजस्व हविषा यजीयाञ्छ्रुष्टी देष्णमभि गृणीहि राधः । त्वं ह्यसि रयिपती रयीणां त्वं शुक्रस्य वचसो मनोता ॥

Agni, who are the chief of sacrificers, worship (the gods) with the oblation, and earnestly commend to them the (sacrificial) food that is to be given (them); for you, indeed, are the soverign lord of riches; you are the appreciator of our pious prayer.

english translation

agne॒ yaja॑sva ha॒viSA॒ yajI॑yAJchru॒STI de॒SNama॒bhi gR॑NIhi॒ rAdha॑: | tvaM hyasi॑ rayi॒patI॑ rayI॒NAM tvaM zu॒krasya॒ vaca॑so ma॒notA॑ || agne yajasva haviSA yajIyAJchruSTI deSNamabhi gRNIhi rAdhaH | tvaM hyasi rayipatI rayINAM tvaM zukrasya vacaso manotA ||

उ॒भयं॑ ते॒ न क्षी॑यते वस॒व्यं॑ दि॒वेदि॑वे॒ जाय॑मानस्य दस्म । कृ॒धि क्षु॒मन्तं॑ जरि॒तार॑मग्ने कृ॒धि पतिं॑ स्वप॒त्यस्य॑ रा॒यः ॥ उभयं ते न क्षीयते वसव्यं दिवेदिवे जायमानस्य दस्म । कृधि क्षुमन्तं जरितारमग्ने कृधि पतिं स्वपत्यस्य रायः ॥

Beautiful Agni, the two dwelling-plural ces (heaven and earth) of you, who are born day by day, never perish; confer upon him who praises you (abundant) food, and make him the master of riches, (supporting) virtuous offering.

english translation

u॒bhayaM॑ te॒ na kSI॑yate vasa॒vyaM॑ di॒vedi॑ve॒ jAya॑mAnasya dasma | kR॒dhi kSu॒mantaM॑ jari॒tAra॑magne kR॒dhi patiM॑ svapa॒tyasya॑ rA॒yaH || ubhayaM te na kSIyate vasavyaM divedive jAyamAnasya dasma | kRdhi kSumantaM jaritAramagne kRdhi patiM svapatyasya rAyaH ||
