ऋ॒तं दे॒वाय॑ कृण्व॒ते स॑वि॒त्र इन्द्रा॑याहि॒घ्ने न र॑मन्त॒ आप॑: । अह॑रहर्यात्य॒क्तुर॒पां किया॒त्या प्र॑थ॒मः सर्ग॑ आसाम् ॥ ऋतं देवाय कृण्वते सवित्र इन्द्रायाहिघ्ने न रमन्त आपः । अहरहर्यात्यक्तुरपां कियात्या प्रथमः सर्ग आसाम् ॥
The waters cease not (to flow in libations) to the divine Indra, the sender of rain, the animator (of all), the slayer of Ahi; day by day proceeds the current of the waters; at what period of time was their first creation.
english translation
यो वृ॒त्राय॒ सिन॒मत्राभ॑रिष्य॒त्प्र तं जनि॑त्री वि॒दुष॑ उवाच । प॒थो रद॑न्ती॒रनु॒ जोष॑मस्मै दि॒वेदि॑वे॒ धुन॑यो य॒न्त्यर्थ॑म् ॥ यो वृत्राय सिनमत्राभरिष्यत्प्र तं जनित्री विदुष उवाच । पथो रदन्तीरनु जोषमस्मै दिवेदिवे धुनयो यन्त्यर्थम् ॥
His mother, (Aditi), declared to him the man who had offered (sacrificial) food to Vṛtra;obedient to his plural asure, the rivers, tracing out their paths, flow day by day to their object, (the ocean).
english translation
ऊ॒र्ध्वो ह्यस्था॒दध्य॒न्तरि॒क्षेऽधा॑ वृ॒त्राय॒ प्र व॒धं ज॑भार । मिहं॒ वसा॑न॒ उप॒ हीमदु॑द्रोत्ति॒ग्मायु॑धो अजय॒च्छत्रु॒मिन्द्र॑: ॥ ऊर्ध्वो ह्यस्थादध्यन्तरिक्षेऽधा वृत्राय प्र वधं जभार । मिहं वसान उप हीमदुद्रोत्तिग्मायुधो अजयच्छत्रुमिन्द्रः ॥
Inasmuch as he had soared aloft above the firmament Indra hurled against Vṛtra his destructive (thunderbolt); enveloped in a cloud, he rushed upon Indra, but the wielder of the sharp-edged weapon triumphed over his foe.
english translation
बृह॑स्पते॒ तपु॒षाश्ने॑व विध्य॒ वृक॑द्वरसो॒ असु॑रस्य वी॒रान् । यथा॑ ज॒घन्थ॑ धृष॒ता पु॒रा चि॑दे॒वा ज॑हि॒ शत्रु॑म॒स्माक॑मिन्द्र ॥ बृहस्पते तपुषाश्नेव विध्य वृकद्वरसो असुरस्य वीरान् । यथा जघन्थ धृषता पुरा चिदेवा जहि शत्रुमस्माकमिन्द्र ॥
Pierce, Bṛhaspati, with a radiant shaft, as with a thunderbolt, the sons of the asura guarding his gates; in like manner as you did formerly slay Vṛtra by your own prowess, so do you now destroy our enemy.
english translation
अव॑ क्षिप दि॒वो अश्मा॑नमु॒च्चा येन॒ शत्रुं॑ मन्दसा॒नो नि॒जूर्वा॑: । तो॒कस्य॑ सा॒तौ तन॑यस्य॒ भूरे॑र॒स्माँ अ॒र्धं कृ॑णुतादिन्द्र॒ गोना॑म् ॥ अव क्षिप दिवो अश्मानमुच्चा येन शत्रुं मन्दसानो निजूर्वाः । तोकस्य सातौ तनयस्य भूरेरस्माँ अर्धं कृणुतादिन्द्र गोनाम् ॥
Do you, who are on high, cast down fromheaven the adamantine (thunderbolt), wherewith, when exhilarated, you did slay your foe; and make us affluent in the possession of many sons, and grandsons, and cattle.
