अपो॒ सु म्य॑क्ष वरुण भि॒यसं॒ मत्सम्रा॒ळृता॒वोऽनु॑ मा गृभाय । दामे॑व व॒त्साद्वि मु॑मु॒ग्ध्यंहो॑ न॒हि त्वदा॒रे नि॒मिष॑श्च॒नेशे॑ ॥ अपो सु म्यक्ष वरुण भियसं मत्सम्राळृतावोऽनु मा गृभाय । दामेव वत्साद्वि मुमुग्ध्यंहो नहि त्वदारे निमिषश्चनेशे ॥
Keep off all danger from me, Varuṇa; supreme monarch, endowed with truth, bestow your favour upon me; cast off (from me) sin, like a tether from a calf; no one rules for the twinkling of an eye, apart from you.
english translation
मा नो॑ व॒धैर्व॑रुण॒ ये त॑ इ॒ष्टावेन॑: कृ॒ण्वन्त॑मसुर भ्री॒णन्ति॑ । मा ज्योति॑षः प्रवस॒थानि॑ गन्म॒ वि षू मृध॑: शिश्रथो जी॒वसे॑ नः ॥ मा नो वधैर्वरुण ये त इष्टावेनः कृण्वन्तमसुर भ्रीणन्ति । मा ज्योतिषः प्रवसथानि गन्म वि षू मृधः शिश्रथो जीवसे नः ॥
Harm us not, Varuṇa, with those destructive (weapons), repeller (of foes), demolish him who does evil at your sacrifice; let us not depart (before our time) from the regions of light; scatter the malevolent, that we may live.
english translation
नम॑: पु॒रा ते॑ वरुणो॒त नू॒नमु॒ताप॒रं तु॑विजात ब्रवाम । त्वे हि कं॒ पर्व॑ते॒ न श्रि॒तान्यप्र॑च्युतानि दूळभ व्र॒तानि॑ ॥ नमः पुरा ते वरुणोत नूनमुतापरं तुविजात ब्रवाम । त्वे हि कं पर्वते न श्रितान्यप्रच्युतानि दूळभ व्रतानि ॥
As we have offered adoration to you, Varuṇa, of old, in like manner as we offer it now, so may we offer it in future (to you), who are everywhere present; for in you, who are difficult of attainment, as in an (immoveable) mountain, all holy acts are assembled, and are not to be dissevered.
english translation
पर॑ ऋ॒णा सा॑वी॒रध॒ मत्कृ॑तानि॒ माहं रा॑जन्न॒न्यकृ॑तेन भोजम् । अव्यु॑ष्टा॒ इन्नु भूय॑सीरु॒षास॒ आ नो॑ जी॒वान्व॑रुण॒ तासु॑ शाधि ॥ पर ऋणा सावीरध मत्कृतानि माहं राजन्नन्यकृतेन भोजम् । अव्युष्टा इन्नु भूयसीरुषास आ नो जीवान्वरुण तासु शाधि ॥
Discharge, Varuṇa, the debts (contracted), by my progenitors, and those now (contracted) by me; and may I not, royal Varuṇa, be dependent (on the debts contracted) by another; many are the mornings that have, as it were, indeed not dawned; make us, Varuṇa, alive in them.
english translation
यो मे॑ राज॒न्युज्यो॑ वा॒ सखा॑ वा॒ स्वप्ने॑ भ॒यं भी॒रवे॒ मह्य॒माह॑ । स्ते॒नो वा॒ यो दिप्स॑ति नो॒ वृको॑ वा॒ त्वं तस्मा॑द्वरुण पाह्य॒स्मान् ॥ यो मे राजन्युज्यो वा सखा वा स्वप्ने भयं भीरवे मह्यमाह । स्तेनो वा यो दिप्सति नो वृको वा त्वं तस्माद्वरुण पाह्यस्मान् ॥
Protect us, Varuṇa, against every peril which a kinsman or a friend threatens me with alarmed in sleep; or from a thief or a wolf that attempts to destroy us.
