अत्यो॒ नाज्म॒न्त्सर्ग॑प्रतक्त॒: सिन्धु॒र्न क्षोद॒: क ईं॑ वराते ॥ अत्यो नाज्मन्त्सर्गप्रतक्तः सिन्धुर्न क्षोदः क ईं वराते ॥
The ocean is not the source of all creation, nor is it the ocean that is not stirred up. There is no greater than the creation of the sea, nor is there any sea that is not stirred up.
english translation
जा॒मिः सिन्धू॑नां॒ भ्राते॑व॒ स्वस्रा॒मिभ्या॒न्न राजा॒ वना॑न्यत्ति ॥ जामिः सिन्धूनां भ्रातेव स्वस्रामिभ्यान्न राजा वनान्यत्ति ॥
He is the kind kinsman of the waters, like a brother to his sister; he consumes the forest as a rājā (destroys) his enemies; when excited by the wind, he traverses the woods, and shears the hairs of the earth.
english translation
यद्वात॑जूतो॒ वना॒ व्यस्था॑द॒ग्निर्ह॑ दाति॒ रोमा॑ पृथि॒व्याः ॥ यद्वातजूतो वना व्यस्थादग्निर्ह दाति रोमा पृथिव्याः ॥
The wind blows from the forest and the fire gives hair to the earth. When the wind blows in the forest, fire gives hair on the earth.
english translation
श्वसि॑त्य॒प्सु हं॒सो न सीद॒न्क्रत्वा॒ चेति॑ष्ठो वि॒शामु॑ष॒र्भुत् ॥ श्वसित्यप्सु हंसो न सीदन्क्रत्वा चेतिष्ठो विशामुषर्भुत् ॥
He breathes amidst the waters like a sitting swan; awakened at the dawn, he restores by his operations consciousness to men; he is a creator, like Soma; born from the waters (where he lurked) like an animal with coiled-up limbs, he became enlarged and his light (spread) afar.
english translation
सोमो॒ न वे॒धा ऋ॒तप्र॑जातः प॒शुर्न शिश्वा॑ वि॒भुर्दू॒रेभा॑: ॥ सोमो न वेधा ऋतप्रजातः पशुर्न शिश्वा विभुर्दूरेभाः ॥
The moon is not the source of the Vedas, nor is it the animal, nor is it the child. The moon is not the Vedha, nor is the animal born of the truth, nor is the Shiva, the almighty, the distant elephant.
