The five types of hand gestures in acting and dance are: the upward, circular, triangular, and downward positions, along with the standing position.

एवं ज्ञेयाः करा ह्येते नाभिनयसंश्रिताः । अत ऊर्ध्वं प्रवक्ष्यामि हस्तान् नृत्तसमाश्रयान् ॥ १८४॥
