रङ्गे पिबतः कार्या मदवृद्धिर्नाट्ययोगमासाद्य । कार्यो मदक्षयो वै यः खलु पीत्वा प्रविष्टः स्यात् ॥ ४४॥
A character who [acts] drinking on entering the stage is to show that his intoxication is increasing, but the character who enters the stage as drunk should show that his intoxication is decreasing.
english translation
raGge pibataH kAryA madavRddhirnATyayogamAsAdya । kAryo madakSayo vai yaH khalu pItvA praviSTaH syAt ॥ 44॥
