उत्फुल्लानननेत्रं तु गण्डैर्विकसितैरथ । किञ्चिल्लक्षितदन्तं च हसितं तद्विधीयते ॥ ६॥
With a blooming face and eyes, slightly expanded cheeks, and teeth that are slightly visible, such a smile is called Hasita (the Smile).
english translation
utphullAnananetraM tu gaNDairvikasitairatha । kiJcillakSitadantaM ca hasitaM tadvidhIyate ॥ 6॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ मध्यमानाम् - आकुञ्चिताक्षिगण्डं यत्सस्वनं मधुरं तथा । कालागतं सास्यरागं तद्वै विहसितं भवेत्॥७॥
Now, about the medium ones: With contracted eyes and cheeks, producing a soft sound, sweet in nature, and appropriate to the occasion, along with a slight redness of the face, this is known as Vihasita (Gentle Laughter).

atha madhyamAnAm - AkuJcitAkSigaNDaM yatsasvanaM madhuraM tathA । kAlAgataM sAsyarAgaM tadvai vihasitaM bhavet॥7॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्फुल्लनासिकं यत्तु जिह्मदृष्टिनिरीक्षितम् । निकुञ्चिताङ्गकशिरस्तच्चोपहसितं भवेत् ॥ ८॥
With flaring nostrils, sidelong glances, bent body, and a tilted head, this is known as Upahasita (Laughter of Ridicule).

utphullanAsikaM yattu jihmadRSTinirIkSitam । nikuJcitAGgakazirastaccopahasitaM bhavet ॥ 8॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथाधमानाम् - अस्थानहसितं यत्तु साश्रुनेत्रं तथैव च । उत्कम्पितांसकशिरस्तच्चापहसिअतं भवेत् ॥ ९॥
Now, concerning the inferior type: "Laughter that is inappropriate to the situation, accompanied by tearful eyes, trembling shoulders, and a shaking head, is known as Apahasita (False Laughter)."

athAdhamAnAm - asthAnahasitaM yattu sAzrunetraM tathaiva ca । utkampitAMsakazirastaccApahasiataM bhavet ॥ 9॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंरब्धसाश्रुनेत्रं च विकृष्टस्वरमुद्धतम् । करोपगूढपार्श्वं च तच्चातिहसितं भवेत् ॥१०॥
Laughter that is intense, accompanied by tearful eyes, loud and excessive sound, and marked by covering the sides with the hands, is known as Atihasita (Excessive Laughter).
