Natyashastra
प्रमाणं द्वादशकलं तथापातमथापि च । अस्य तु द्विकला शम्या कालश्च द्विकलस्ततः ॥ २५०॥
The measure is twelve Kalās, and likewise for the Pāta. In its two-Kalā portion, Śamyā is to be applied, and the time-measure (Kalā) is of two Kalās.
