विघुष्य तु हृतं चौरैर्न पालो दातुमर्हति । यदि देशे च काले च स्वामिनः स्वस्य शंसति ॥ २३३ ॥

But for (an animal) stolen by thieves, though he raised an alarm, the herdsman shall not pay, provided he gives notice to his master at the proper place and time.

english translation

vighuSya tu hRtaM caurairna pAlo dAtumarhati | yadi deze ca kAle ca svAminaH svasya zaMsati || 233 ||
