पाणिग्राहस्य साध्वी स्त्री जीवतो वा मृतस्य वा । पतिलोकमभीप्सन्ती नाचरेत् किं चिदप्रियम् ॥ १५६ ॥
sanskrit
A faithful wife, who desires to dwell (after death) with her husband, must never do anything that might displease him who took her hand, whether he be alive or dead.
english translation
pANigrAhasya sAdhvI strI jIvato vA mRtasya vA | patilokamabhIpsantI nAcaret kiM cidapriyam || 156 ||

कामं तु क्षपयेद् देहं पुष्पमूलफलैः शुभैः । न तु नामापि गृह्णीयात् पत्यौ प्रेते परस्य तु ॥ १५७ ॥

At her pleasure let her emaciate her body by (living on) pure flowers, roots, and fruit; but she must never even mention the name of another man after her husband has died.
english translation
kAmaM tu kSapayed dehaM puSpamUlaphalaiH zubhaiH | na tu nAmApi gRhNIyAt patyau prete parasya tu || 157 ||

आसीतामरणात् क्षान्ता नियता ब्रह्मचारिणी । यो धर्म एकपत्नीनां काङ्क्षन्ती तमनुत्तमम् ॥ १५८ ॥

Until death let her be patient (of hardships), self-controlled, and chaste, and strive (to fulfil) that most excellent duty which (is prescribed) for wives who have one husband only.

AsItAmaraNAt kSAntA niyatA brahmacAriNI | yo dharma ekapatnInAM kAGkSantI tamanuttamam || 158 ||

अनेकानि सहस्राणि कुमारब्रह्मचारिणाम् । दिवं गतानि विप्राणामकृत्वा कुलसन्ततिम् ॥ १५९ ॥

Many thousands of Brahmanas who were chaste from their youth, have gone to heaven without continuing their race.

मृते भर्तरि साध्वी स्त्री ब्रह्मचर्ये व्यवस्थिता । स्वर्गं गच्छत्यपुत्राऽपि यथा ते ब्रह्मचारिणः ॥ १६० ॥

A virtuous wife who after the death of her husband constantly remains chaste, reaches heaven, though she have no son, just like those chaste men.
