Nor on ploughed land, in water, on an altar of bricks, on a mountain, on the ruins of a temple, nor ever on an ant-hill,

na phAlakRSTe na jale na cityAM na ca parvate | na jIrNadevAyatane na valmIke kadA cana || 46 ||
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन ससत्त्वेषु गर्तेषु न गच्छन्नपि न स्थितः । न नदीतीरमासाद्य न च पर्वतमस्तके ॥ ४७ ॥
Nor in holes inhabited by living creatures, nor while he walks or stands, nor on reaching the bank of a river, nor on the top of a mountain.

na sasattveSu garteSu na gacchannapi na sthitaH | na nadItIramAsAdya na ca parvatamastake || 47 ||
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवायुअग्निविप्रमादित्यमपः पश्यंस्तथैव गाः । न कदा चन कुर्वीत विण्मूत्रस्य विसर्जनम् ॥ ४८ ॥
Let him never void faeces or urine, facing the wind, or a fire, or looking towards a Brahmana, the sun, water, or cows.

vAyuagnivipramAdityamapaH pazyaMstathaiva gAH | na kadA cana kurvIta viNmUtrasya visarjanam || 48 ||
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतिरस्कृत्योच्चरेत् काष्ठलोष्ठपत्रतृणादिना । नियम्य प्रयतो वाचं संवीताङ्गोऽवगुण्ठितः ॥ ४९ ॥
He may ease himself, having covered (the ground) with sticks, clods, leaves, grass, and the like, restraining his speech, (keeping himself) pure, wrapping up his body, and covering his head.

tiraskRtyoccaret kASThaloSThapatratRNAdinA | niyamya prayato vAcaM saMvItAGgo'vaguNThitaH || 49 ||

Let him void faeces and urine, in the daytime turning to the north, at night turning towards the south, during the two twilights in the same (position) as by day
