शब्दः स्पर्शश्च रूपं च रसो गन्धश्च पञ्चमः । वेदादेव प्रसूयन्ते प्रसूतिर्गुणकर्मतः ॥ ९८ ॥

sanskrit

Sound, touch, colour, taste, and fifthly smell are known through the Veda alone, (their) production (is) through the (Vedic rites, which in this respect are) secondary acts.

english translation

zabdaH sparzazca rUpaM ca raso gandhazca paJcamaH । vedAdeva prasUyante prasUtirguNakarmataH ॥ 98 ॥
