Manusmriti
अकामतः कृतं पापं वेदाभ्यासेन शुध्यति । कामतस्तु कृतं मोहात् प्रायश्चित्तैः पृथग्विधैः ॥ ४६ ॥
A sin unintentionally committed is expiated by the recitation of Vedic texts, but that which (men) in their folly commit intentionally, by various (special) penances.
english translation
akAmataH kRtaM pApaM vedAbhyAsena zudhyati । kAmatastu kRtaM mohAt prAyazcittaiH pRthagvidhaiH ॥ 46 ॥
