Manusmriti
प्रजापतिरिदं शास्त्रं तपसैवासृजत् प्रभुः । तथैव वेदान् ऋषयस्तपसा प्रतिपेदिरे ॥ २४३ ॥
The lord, Pragapati, created these Institutes (of the sacred law) by his austerities alone; the sages likewise obtained (the revelation of) the Vedas through their austerities.
english translation
prajApatiridaM zAstraM tapasaivAsRjat prabhuH । tathaiva vedAn RSayastapasA pratipedire ॥ 243 ॥
